Shook Hill Kitchen

A family with three young children sought to transform the cramped kitchen of their newly purchased home into an open space where the family could relax and entertain.  By removing walls and enlarging windows, the new kitchen provides plenty of space both to work and to play.  Even with a much larger footprint, the updated layout emphasizes efficiency by establishing work and prep zones with appropriate storage, and the kitchen connects to a butler’s pantry with an additional sink and dishwasher.  A waterfall island of fluted white oak and quartzite anchors the room, and mosaic travertine tile extends the full height of the tall ceilings, adding to the airy, modern feel of the space.
