✨ Project Spotlight ✨

This historic home was preserved properly while making upgrades to improve functional living.

When the second-floor owner’s suite and basement laundry room in this 1938 home no longer served this couple, we worked to create an addition that was sensitive to the historic qualities of the home as well as to their desire to remain active in their home as long as possible. A new ensuite addition, complete with a new laundry room and terrace, provides accessibility and ease of use. Utilizing our expertise in universal design, the addition provides features such as a curbless shower, convertible vanity, sensor-activated lighting, and flooring designed to enhance traction and safety, all while complementing the lovely historic home.

The owners of this home sought a whole house renovation that would provide spaces for the family to gather and grow.

Upgrades include higher ceilings, taller windows, a new kitchen that opens to a light-filled family room, and a finished basement. Improvements to the front façade of the house are restrained and in keeping with the style of the original cottage and surrounding neighborhood.

✨ Project Spotlight: Cherokee Bend Ranch Renovation ✨

Homes in this post-war neighborhood outside of Birmingham, Alabama are known for their distinctive ranch style, with main-level living, brick exteriors, and, in many instances, walk-out basements.

This home was designed for a couple with growing kids who needed space for socializing and family entertaining. The new layout is focused around a kitchen that opens completely to the outdoor deck, overlooking the family pool, with a larger master suite and closet, main-level laundry, and plenty of bedrooms at the upper and lower levels for kids and guests.

A complete renovation made this beloved ranch floor plan work practically for today’s family!

✨ Project Spotlight ✨

The owners of this home wanted to transform their cramped kitchen into an open space where the family could relax and entertain. After meeting with TPD about the design goals, we created a plan to make it happen.

By removing walls and enlarging windows, the new kitchen provides plenty of space both to work and to play. The updated layout emphasizes efficiency by establishing work and prep zones with appropriate storage. A beautiful waterfall island anchors the room, and mosaic travertine tile extends the full height of the tall ceilings, adding to the airy, modern feel of the space.
