Downsizing to a convenient townhome for this busy professional meant creating space that allowed for a space for relaxing and entertaining friends and family, while also being a space for a teenager to call home – with space to study and gather with friends.
Phase I of this renovation included a new kitchen and owner bath and closet, designed to be lovely and easy, with a material palette inspired by the owner’s artwork collection. The efficient galley kitchen features a hidden pantry – a place to stash copious snacks to feed a crowd of kids as well as counter appliances. Rather than a large refrigerator, a set of refrigerator and freezer drawers installed under the counter make the space feel large and open. And dramatically veined stoned counters complement the framed watercolors around which the space was designed. The result is a space that is vibrant and sophisticated, and the ample storage space keeps clutter at bay in a kitchen whose style far exceeds its square footage.
The owner bath takes its cue from neutral hues in another of the owner’s pieces. Soft colors and textures in the material palette provide a relaxing space with storage to spare.
