Catherine Mizerany of Taylor Plosser Davis Architecture + Design is now one of the select group of professionals nationwide to earn the Certified Aging-In-Place Specialist (CAPS) designation, identifying her as a designer with the skills and knowledge necessary to design a home to meet the unique needs of the older population.
“Futureproofing” Homes
I spent the last couple of days in Omaha, Nebraska at a workshop presented by the University of Nebraska Durham School of Architectural Engineering. My presentation was slotted early on the first day, so I had the opportunity to really engage with the subsequent presentations. It was an amazing learning experience, and I’m still digesting all of the information presented.

I recently attended the Environments for Aging conference in Atlanta, which in general is a great conference and resource for the work we do here at TPD. The assembled group of architects, interior designers, builders, vendors, senior living operators, technology specialists, medical practitioners and developers is unique, I think, in that it recognizes that everyone needs to be working together to help provide great living spaces and experiences for older adults.
